It's finally cold and wet. Too cold and wet - be careful what you wish for! but it has helped some late flowers. The calendula flowers are much better than they were in the summer.

new dianthus superbus flowers

and buds promising more flowers

the latest datura seed pod splitting open

and a couple days later, split open more and the seeds are falling out so I cut it off and saved the seeds which I'll sow in the spring

Crepis capillaris self-seeded in pot with sea holly, small teasel, teasel and a couple of Korean thistle seedlings

Centaurea montana plants which really suffered in the drought and heatwave but looking good now, although a bit late but I hope it leaves them in a good state for the spring

I've been trying to grow asphopdel, first from seed which wasn't very successful, then I bought some small plants. They've just been in pots so far but I've been meaning to plant them out before winter. The pots they're in had a lot of self-seeders growing.

I finally planted them out today. The ground is softer after all this rain so I was able to dig holes for them.

this Verbena bonariensis self-seeded with one of the asphodels so I planted them out all together

This pot has an asphodel as well as an honesty and small teasel seedlings that have self-seeded so I decided to leave this pot. I am going to try to plant the entire pot including the self-seeders.

I also have some marsh mallow plants to plant out so I've placed them in the garden in preparation. The pots sitting there will weaken the grass, hopefully making digging holes to plant in easier. I moved that honesty pot and that bare patch on the left was left, making it easier to dig a hole for that plant.

I planted that out after digging with the help of that bare patch

I had another pot of honesty and only while processing this photo at my computer, I realised there's an asphodel in that pot, also red campion, teasel and Crepis vesicaria.

nice bare patch left from moving the pot which will allow me to dig a hole

planted out

Some hollyhock seedlings are in the pots with the marsh mallow plants

I planted that small pot out which contains a marsh mallow and a hollyhock. The other pots haven't been out long enough to weaken the grass so I'm going to leave them for a week or so.

this pot has small teasel self-seeded and looks like a hogweed seedling?

and planted out

another pot that has a Verbascum blattaria and dandelions planted out

Cirsium botryodes rosette, the last one still alive after buying 3 and also trying to grow from seed

lots of rosettes which may be Crepis vesicaria or dandelions, it's a matter of wait and see

with the help of the bare patch left after moving that container

muscari and rosettes planted out

Crepis vesicaria probably

I'm not sure what these self-seeders are but I guess I should try to get them in the ground.
