Dire Straits' Tunnel of Love video then and now

Dire Straits' Tunnel of Love 1980 music video was filmed along the Regent's Canal in northwest London. As I've walked along that part of the canal a number of times photographing plants, I was intrigued to compare how it looks now with how it looked in the video.

The lock keeper's cottage is in the background with St Pancras Lock in the foreground. Gasometers in the farther background.

The lock keepers's cottage is still there, the gasometers have been removed, some new buildings and the water tower in the background on the right was moved from St Pancras to preserve it. A new pedestrian bridge across the canal has recently been added.

a little further on from St Pancras Lock is this view of the Coal Drop Yards buildings and a gasometer to the right

this shows those buildings in the distance, no gasometer to the right but some of the gasometers have been moved to Gasholders Park on the left

I'm pretty sure this is Kentish Town Road Lock and the TV Am studios (now MTV) in the background.

Part of the towpath is closed so I can't get a photo of those steps right now but these are on the other side.

These steps and the sluice on the side is in the final scene of the video.
